Feeling Unqualified? Remember Who God Has Called You to Be
“Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” — Exodus 4:12 (NIV)
Have you ever felt that God was leading you to do something, but the more you thought about it, the more you questioned your ability to actually do it?
You have an idea for a ministry, but you wonder who would listen to you. You feel led to teach, speak, or lead, but you keep thinking about how much more experienced everyone else seems to be. You see other women doing the very things you hope to do, and suddenly, you start questioning whether you have what it takes.
Sometimes, those thoughts can keep us from taking the first step.
Fear and doubt are experiences many of us face, especially when we are stepping into something unfamiliar. We may worry about making mistakes, disappointing people, or being exposed as someone who doesn't know enough.
But even some of the people God used in Scripture struggled with these same feelings.
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses immediately began questioning his ability. He reminded God that he was not an eloquent speaker and struggled to understand why he had been chosen for such an important assignment.
In Exodus 4:12, God responded by telling Moses that He would help him speak and teach him what to say.
God knew Moses' limitations before He called him. He was fully aware of his past, his struggles, and the areas where he lacked confidence. Yet God still had a purpose for his life.
God can work through you while you are still learning, growing, and developing confidence in the gifts He has given you.
Remember that Moses did not have every answer when God called him. He had to learn to trust God's guidance as he moved forward.
You can do the same.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for seeing the potential in me even when I struggle to see it in myself. Help me recognize the fears and doubts that have kept me from moving forward. Remind me that I do not have to know everything or have every skill before I begin. Give me the courage to take the next step, the humility to keep learning, and the faith to trust You as I grow. Help me stop comparing myself to others and remain focused on the work You have placed before me. In Jesus' name, amen.
